SEC Coordinates with Global Regulators to Raise Fraud Awareness During Tenth World Investor Week

The US Securities and Exchange Commission, in coordination with domestic partners and international regulators, has published a joint investor bulletin as part of World Investor Week 2026. The initiative focuses on strengthening investor resilience against changing economic conditions and escalating investment scams.

Global Regulatory Cooperation Against Financial Fraud

The joint investor bulletin aims to warn individuals about rising relationship investment schemes and impersonation scams. Regulators issued the advisory to encourage vigilance and help market participants navigate volatile economic conditions.

World Investor Week is organised globally by the International Organization of Securities Commissions, bringing together financial regulators across six continents. The 2026 campaign marks the tenth anniversary of the annual initiative focused on investor education and protection.

Coordinated Efforts Across US Financial Authorities

In coordinating the efforts across the United States, the SEC worked alongside several regulatory bodies. These partners include the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the Securities Investor Protection Corporation, the National Futures Association, and the North American Securities Administrators Association.

SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins highlighted that investor protection remains a core element of the agency's mission, encouraging individuals to utilise public resources on the SEC website to protect themselves from potential fraud.

John Moses, Director of the SEC Office of Investor Education and Assistance, noted that adopting principles of resiliency enables individuals to better handle market volatility and guard against fraudulent schemes.
