EBA Issues Updated Reporting Framework Validation Rules for Q3 2026

The European Banking Authority has issued an updated list of validation rules for its supervisory reporting frameworks as part of its routine quarterly update.

Deactivated and Reactivated Validation Rules

On 14 September 2026, the European Banking Authority released its revised validation rules package under its regular quarterly reporting framework review process. The updated list specifies rules that have been deactivated because of IT-related issues or inaccuracies, alongside rules that have been reactivated.

National competent authorities across the European Union have been instructed that supervisory data submitted under Implementing Technical Standards and Guidelines must not be formally validated against rules that have been deactivated.

Validation Package and DPM 2.0 Integration

In conjunction with the updated list, the authority issued a small validation rules package comprising a micro taxonomy package and Data Point Model (DPM) validation rules update scripts.

These technical elements are required for every validation rules update exercise from release 4.0 onwards. Their purpose is to ensure that amendments remain consistent across both the taxonomy and the DPM.

Following the adoption of DPM 2.0 from release 4.0 onwards, validation rules are integrated directly into both the taxonomy and the DPM. This structural integration enhances change traceability, supports consistent implementation across reporting institutions, and contributes to a more efficient and harmonised supervisory reporting framework.
